Physical Therapy.

From rehabilitation of an injury to dry needling, Dr. Katie Carbiener can be of assistance. She is a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy since 2015. She has a strong background in orthopedics and is able to see patients of all ages.

Dr. Carbiener’s Approach:

Physical therapy is all encompassing. Pain must be addressed first. Then we must figure out the “why” behind the source of pain. Then we can start to address the actual cause (even if indirectly related). This can include other manual interventions or re-teaching you to move better (what we PT’s call neuromuscular education). After that you get to the fun stuff! This might be strengthening and exercise to get better at this new movement pattern. My goal is to get you out of the Physical Therapy phase and onto the coaching, personal training, or whatever it is you want to do!

Dry Needling:

Level 2 Dry Needling Certified

  • Duration: From 15 min for returning patients to 1 hour.

Able to address multiple body parts/ailments. Electrical Stimulation with the needles and other treatments are typically combined. Intention is to release a muscle and/or re-educate its firing patterns.

  • Session prices are inclusive of the dry needling but an additional supply fee is applied.

Cupping or Instrument assisted techniques

  • Duration: 15 min to 1 hour depending on need.

Often combined with other treatments. Intension is to increase blood flow to an area and release a muscle.

Instruments that may be used include a metal “scraping” tool.

  • Can be billed as a separate service or in combination with a Physical Therapy Session

Joint Mobilizations, Soft Tissue and other

  • Duration: Based on needs and only performed in PT sessions.

Joint mobilizations are performed to improve mobility of a joint, often reducing pain.

Soft Tissue Mobilization is like massage performed with various intentions which might include releasing a muscle, increasing blood flow, reducing inflammation, addressing soft tissue adhesions.

Physical Therapist are trained in many other manual interventions like stretching and other release techniques that they will use based on their clinical judgement.

  • Manual services are included in cost of a Physical Therapy Session

Therapeutic Exercise and Neuromuscular Re-Education

  • Learn what exercises you need to do to not let your injury happen again.

This might be strengthening, changing movement patterns, body mechanic education, posture correction, learning muscular firing patterns, work station set up changes, and so much more.

  • Included in Physical Therapy Session cost
